The Jones Companies Family was heartbroken to hear of the sudden passing of District 12.0 Manager John Covey, and we mourn alongside his family. John's obituary is below.
Kansas City, MO—At the age of 56, John passed away suddenly on Monday, July 15, 2019 at home.
Born and raised in Blue Island, and a Joliet area resident from 1989 until 2000 before relocating to Alsip, Illinois, and ultimately settling in Kansas City, Missouri, eight years ago. He attended college and was a graduate of Dwight D. Eisenhower High School in Blue Island, Illinois. He was employed as a District Manager at Check Into Cash in Kansas City, Missouri.
John loved the outdoors, and walking through the Lake Renwick Forest Preserve was one of the most calming moments in his day. He also was an avid Bears fan and loved to go to the movies, especially with his son.
He is preceded in death by his son, Jackson Oberlin Covey (1989); his parents, Bernice and John Engstrom; and one sister, Sandy DeBias.
He is survived by his loving son, Quinn S. Covey of Crest Hill; two sisters, Cindy (Mike) Anastasia of Tinley Park and Lori (Joe) Salgado of Blue Island; two nieces, Lisa (Rub) Grantman and Rachel Salgado; two nephews, Mike (Jaclyn) Anastasia and Matt Anastasia; and his former wife and friend, Tina Oberlin. Numerous cousins also survive.
Funeral services for John S. Covey were held on Sunday, July 21, 2019, at 5 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet, Illinois. At John's request, cremation rites were accorded following his funeral services.
